Why does your 1973 Corvette have the removable rear window?

My 1973 Corvette doesn't actually *have* a removable rear window. That feature was a hallmark of the earlier, C2 (1963-1967) Corvettes. The 1973 Corvette, a C3, had a fixed, non-removable rear window made of glass.
