The fusible link for a 1986 Ford Ranger is located in the engine compartment. To find it, look for a red wire with a black connector. The fusible link is located near the battery. It is a small, cylindrical-shaped device that is about 2 inches long.
NOTE:
If you are replacing the fusible link, be sure to use a fuse that is the same amperage as the one that was originally installed. If you use a fuse that is too high of an amperage, it could cause a fire.
