Tools Needed:
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- New rearview mirror
- Rag
Instructions:
1. Detach the Cover Plate:
- Use a flat-head screwdriver to gently pry off the cover plate located at the base of the rearview mirror.
2. Disconnect the Electrical Connectors:
- Once the cover plate is removed, you should see the wiring and electrical connectors for the mirror.
- Gently disconnect these connectors by pressing the release tabs and pulling them out.
3. Remove the Mirror Glass:
- Carefully press the tabs at the top and bottom of the mirror glass to release it.
- Lift the mirror glass out of the housing.
4. Remove the Existing Mirror Assembly:
- Use a Phillips-head screwdriver to remove the screws holding the mirror assembly in place.
- Gently pull the mirror assembly straight towards you to remove it from the windshield.
5. Disconnect the Windshield Mount Bracket:
- Unclip the electrical connector on the windshield mount bracket.
- Remove the windshield mount bracket by sliding it off the windshield.
6. Remove and Transfer any Electronics:
- If your old mirror had any electronics, remove these from the back of the mirror head and transfer them to the new one.
7. Install the New Mirror Assembly:
- Slide the new mirror assembly into the windshield mount bracket.
- Tighten the screws to secure the mirror assembly in place.
8. Install the Windshield Mount:
- Slide the windshield mount bracket back onto the windshield and reconnect the electrical connector.
9. Reattach the Electrical Connectors:
- Plug in the electrical connectors you disconnected earlier, making sure they are secured.
10. Install the Mirror Glass:
- Gently snap the mirror glass back into place, ensuring that both top and bottom tabs are securely engaged.
11. Reinstall the Cover Plate:
- Snap the cover plate back into place over the electrical connections at the base of the mirror.
12. Test the Mirror:
- Once everything is installed, adjust the mirror to your desired position.
- Test the mirror controls, including power adjustments and tilt, to ensure they are functioning properly.
