- The engine coolant temperature sensor is located on the cylinder head, just behind the thermostat. It is a single-wire sensor with a green connector.
- The air intake temperature sensor is located in the air intake hose, just before the throttle body. It is a two-wire sensor with a black connector.
To replace either of these sensors, you will need the following tools:
- A Phillips head screwdriver
- A flat head screwdriver
- A pair of pliers
- A new temperature sensor
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the battery.
2. Remove the air filter housing.
3. Locate the temperature sensor that you want to replace.
4. Disconnect the electrical connector from the sensor.
5. Use the pliers to remove the old sensor from the engine.
6. Install the new sensor into the engine.
7. Tighten the sensor into place.
8. Reconnect the electrical connector to the sensor.
9. Replace the air filter housing.
10. Reconnect the battery.
Note: The engine coolant temperature sensor can be difficult to reach. If you cannot reach the sensor, you can remove the thermostat to gain more space.
