Tools and Parts:
- Replacement Side Mirror
- Trim Removal Tool
- Phillips Head Screwdriver
- Flat-head Screwdriver (optional)
- Ratchet or Socket Wrench
- 10mm Socket
Instructions:
1. Remove Trim:
- With a trim removal tool or a flat-head screwdriver, gently pry and remove the small black trim panel located at the bottom of the side mirror housing.
2. Remove Mirror Glass:
- Locate the small lever or button that adjusts the angle of the mirror.
- Press the lever or button, and while holding it, gently push the glass out of the housing to release it.
3. Unscrew Mirror:
- Inside the mirror housing, you'll find two Phillips head screws.
- Use a Phillips head screwdriver to loosen and remove the screws to release the side mirror assembly.
4. Disconnect Wiring:
- Carefully pull out the mirror assembly, paying attention to any wires connected to the mirror.
- Disconnect any electrical connectors if present.
5. Remove Old Mirror:
- With the side mirror assembly removed, lay it on a flat surface.
- Remove any plastic rivets or fasteners that hold the old mirror in place.
- Take out the old mirror.
6. Position New Mirror:
- Place the new side mirror in the correct position.
- Secure it using the plastic rivets or fasteners removed earlier.
7. Reinstall Assembly:
- Carefully guide the mirror assembly back into the original position on the car.
- Fasten it with the two Phillips head screws that were removed earlier.
8. Reattach Trim:
- Reattach the small black trim panel that you removed earlier by pressing it back into place.
9. Reconnect Wiring:
- If you disconnected any electrical connectors, reconnect them at this stage.
10. Test Mirror Adjustment:
- Turn the ignition key to "ON" (do not start the engine) and check if the mirror adjustment controls on the driver's door work correctly.
Note:
The Z3 M Coupe has a specific side mirror design, so ensure you have the correct replacement mirror for your car. If there are additional features on your side mirror (like heated mirrors or electric folding), you may need additional steps to disconnect or reconnect these features' relevant wiring.
