How do you remove a steering column from 1984 Corvette?

Tools

* 3/8-inch socket set

* 1/4-inch ratchet and socket set

* Pry bar

* Phillips-head screwdriver

* Torque wrench

* Steering wheel puller

* Electrical tape

Instructions

1.) Disconnect the battery.

2.) Remove the steering wheel. The steering wheel is held in place by a single 19 mm bolt. First, remove the plastic cover from around the steering column and locate the bolt. Next, use the 19 mm socket and ratchet to remove the bolt. Finally, use the steering wheel puller and remove the steering wheel from the steering column.

3.) Remove the horn pad and cover. Use a pry bar to remove the horn button from the steering wheel. Next, remove two screws that hold the cover to the steering wheel. Finally, carefully pry the cover from the steering wheel.

4.) Remove the turn signal switch. Disconnect electrical connector from the bottom of turn signal switch. Next, use a 3/8-inch socket and ratchet to remove the two bolts that hold the switch in place. Finally, remove the switch from the steering column.

5.) Remove the ignition switch. Disconnect electrical connectors from back of the ignition switch. Next, use a pry bar to remove the ignition switch from the steering column.

6.) Remove the steering column. Use a 3/8-inch socket and ratchet to remove the four bolts that hold the steering column in place. Finally, carefully remove the steering column from the car.

To reinstall the steering column, follow these steps in reverse order.
