Intake valve: 0.002 - 0.004 inches (0.05 - 0.10 mm)
Exhaust valve: 0.004 - 0.006 inches (0.10 - 0.15 mm)
These clearances should be checked every 1,000 miles (1,600 km) and adjusted as necessary. If the clearances are incorrect, the engine will not perform properly and may eventually be damaged.
To adjust the valve clearances, you will need the following tools:
* A flat-blade screwdriver
* A feeler gauge
* A 10mm wrench
Instructions:
1. Remove the spark plug from the cylinder head.
2. Insert the feeler gauge between the rocker arm and the valve stem.
3. If the feeler gauge fits snugly, the valve clearance is correct.
4. If the feeler gauge is too tight or too loose, you will need to adjust the valve clearance.
5. To adjust the valve clearance, loosen the locknut on the rocker arm.
6. Turn the adjusting screw until the feeler gauge fits snugly between the rocker arm and the valve stem.
7. Tighten the locknut.
8. Repeat steps 1-7 for the exhaust valve.
9. Replace the spark plug.
