Here are the steps on how to change the right front CV shaft on a Chevy 4 wheel drive:
1. Park the vehicle on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Remove the hubcap and loosen the lug nuts on the right front wheel.
3. Jack up the vehicle and support it on jack stands.
4. Remove the lug nuts and take off the wheel.
5. Remove the cotter pin and castle nut from the lower ball joint.
6. Separate the lower ball joint from the steering knuckle using a ball joint separator.
7. Remove the two bolts that hold the CV axle to the steering knuckle.
8. Pull the CV axle out of the steering knuckle.
9. Remove the CV axle from the transmission.
10. Inspect the CV axle for damage and replace it if necessary.
11. Install the new CV axle in the transmission.
12. Reinstall the CV axle into the steering knuckle and secure it with the two bolts.
13. Reinstall the lower ball joint and secure it with the castle nut and cotter pin.
14. Reinstall the wheel and lug nuts.
15. Lower the vehicle and remove the jack stands.
