2001 Ford Ranger 2.3L Coolant Temperature Sensor Location

1. Open the hood of your Ranger.

2. Locate the thermostat housing. It is located on the front of the engine, just below the upper radiator hose.

3. Follow the upper radiator hose to the engine. The coolant temperature sensor is located on the thermostat housing, just below the hose.

4. The sensor is held in place by a single bolt. Use a wrench to loosen the bolt and remove the sensor.

5. Be careful not to spill any coolant when you remove the sensor.

6. To install the new sensor, simply reverse the steps you took to remove the old one.

7. Tighten the bolt until it is snug.

8. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. Check for any leaks around the sensor.

- On your car, the sensor will likely be a blue plastic plug-style sensor located in the intake manifold, just under the upper coolant hose.
