- Hammer
2\. Locate the key cylinder on your motorcycle.
They are usually located on the right side of the handlebars, just below the ignition switch.

If you can't turn it, you may need to use a screwdriver or pliers to pry it out.
4\. Insert the new key into the ignition cylinder and turn it to the "On" position.
If it does not turn smoothly, you may need to use a hammer to tap the key lightly until it seats.
5\. Remove the new key from the ignition cylinder and repeat steps 3 and 4 until the key turns smoothly in both directions.
6\. Reinstall the key cylinder cover.
7\. Test the new key by starting the motorcycle.
Tips
- If you have a spare Yamaha motorcycle key, you can use that to make a new one.
- You can also take your motorcycle to a Yamaha dealer or a locksmith to have a new key made for them.
Always carry a spare key with you in case you lose your main one.
