1. Park the motorcycle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Loosen the rear axle nut with a wrench.
3. Remove the cotter pin from the rear axle nut and remove the nut.
4. Slide the rear wheel off of the axle.
5. Remove the brake shoe retaining clips from the brake shoes.
6. Remove the brake shoes from the brake drum.
7. Remove the brake drum from the wheel hub.
To reinstall the rear brake drum, follow these steps in reverse order. Be sure to tighten the rear axle nut to the proper torque specification.
