Gather your materials:
* New primary oil (check your owner’s manual for the correct type and amount)
* A funnel
* A drain pan
* A 3/4-inch wrench
Prepare your motorcycle:
1. Park your motorcycle on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Locate the primary case on your motorcycle. It is usually on the left side of the engine, near the front.
4. Remove the drain plug from the primary case.
5. Allow the old primary oil to drain into the drain pan.
Refill the primary case:
1. Insert the funnel into the primary case filler hole.
2. Pour the new primary oil into the funnel.
3. Add oil until the level reaches the “Full” mark on the sight glass.
4. Replace the drain plug and tighten it securely.
Check the oil level:
1. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to sit for a few minutes.
3. Check the oil level in the sight glass. It should be between the “Full” and “Add” marks.
Additional tips:
* Change the primary oil every 10,000–20,000 miles or as specified in your owner’s manual.
* Use only the type of primary oil specified in your owner’s manual.
* If you spill any primary oil, be sure to clean it up immediately to avoid slipping hazards.
