1. Park your ATV on level ground and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the the two chain adjusters positioned next to the carrier bearing located on the lower left side of the rear axle.
3. Use a wrench to loosen the two adjusting nuts. To do this, make sure to first pull your brakes on your fourtrax.
4. Rotate the chain adjusters to tighten the chain. The chain is adequately tight when there is approximately 3/4 - 1 inch of play in the chain.
5. Re-tighten the adjusting nuts.
5. Make sure to apply a chain lube after making these adjustments.
6. Check the tightness of the chain regularly and adjust it as needed.
Here are some additional tips for tightening the chain on your 1990 Honda Fourtrax 200:
- Make sure that the axle nut is properly torqued.
- Be careful not to over-tighten the chain. This can cause premature wear on the chain and sprockets.
- Inspect the chain for signs of wear and damage. A damaged chain should be replaced immediately.
