My door handles are broke off my 92 mustang. How do I get in it?

Getting into your 1992 Mustang with broken door handles requires a bit of finesse and possibly some tools. Safety first: Never attempt to break a window unless absolutely necessary. Breaking glass can cause injury.

Here are a few options, starting with the least destructive:

* Unlocking through the trunk (if applicable): Some Mustangs allow access to the interior through the trunk. Check if your model has this feature. If so, you'll need to open the trunk (using the key, or if it's also broken, other methods). Once open, see if you can reach inside to manually operate the interior release levers for the doors.

* Slim Jim or similar tool: A slim jim is a specialized tool designed to manipulate the locking mechanism of a car door. It's inserted through the gap between the window and the door frame. Caution: Using a slim jim improperly can damage your car's locking system, making the situation worse. Watch videos online to see how it's done correctly on a similar car model before attempting it. This is best done with experience, or with someone who knows how to do it.

* Coat hanger method: A similar, but often less effective method, involves using a sturdy coat hanger. Straighten the hanger except for a small hook on one end. This hook attempts to engage the interior door release lever. This is a more challenging technique and might damage the door panel, so again it requires experience to avoid doing damage.

* Professional locksmith: A locksmith specializing in automotive locks is your best bet if the other methods fail. They have the tools and expertise to open your car without causing significant damage. This is generally the least destructive and most reliable approach.

* Breaking a window (last resort): As a last resort, you could break a rear window (or a side window if absolutely necessary) to gain access. This is the most destructive option and will be expensive to repair, so only do it if all other options are impossible. Consider the cost of window replacement versus a locksmith.

Before trying anything:

* Check your key: Make absolutely sure you're using the correct key and trying all the locks. Sometimes a key can seem broken but is actually in the right position but not turning properly.

* Check for any other access points: If your Mustang has a sunroof, it might be possible to reach in and unlock the door.

Remember, always prioritize safety and try the least destructive methods first. If you're not comfortable with any of these techniques, calling a locksmith is strongly recommended.
