The 1996 Toyota Corolla does
not have a locking mechanism for the rear side doors that can be independently controlled from the driver's seat, either manually or automatically. The rear doors lock and unlock only with the front door locks.
If the rear doors are not locking, the problem is likely with the central locking system itself, a faulty lock actuator in one or both rear doors, or a wiring issue.
