Ford Escapes typically come with all of the intelligence you need to effortlessly keep you on the road and driving safely. One of the best features in a Ford Escape, especially the models between 2013 and 2020, is the oil-life monitoring system.
This system will let you know when you are due for an oil change if you need to fill-up on oil, and what you need to do for your car as external conditions change. In order to make sure that your oil life reading is always as accurate as possible, it is very important to reset the light anytime you get an oil change. Below are all the steps you need to help you do it with ease every single time.
1.) Look on your steering wheel and locate the information display controls. Once located, scroll through until you see “settings” on your dashboard, then press the right arrow button.
2.) After you press the right arrow button, begin scrolling again until you see “vehicle” and press the right arrow button again.
3.) You will then need to scroll again until you see the words “oil life.” once you locate this on the dashboard, you will, you guessed it, press the right arrow button again.
4.) Finally, you will press and hold the OK button on the steering will. You need to hold down this button until a “reset successful” message pops up on the dashboard.
It is important to remember that if this message does not appear or if a different message that says “not reset” or “reset canceled” you should go back through to the beginning and repeat the process again.
Here is a video walkthrough on how to reset the “oil change required” message:
Depending on how often and how far you drive your own car, the frequency of how often you need to change the oil is going to change. It can be once a year, every ten-thousand miles, or even every 5,000 miles. This is why it is so important to reset your light every time you get it changed, and that you go get your oil changed within two weeks of the light turning on.
