How do you engage jeep 4 wheel drive with manual transfer case?

Step 1: Shift the transmission into neutral.

Put the transmission into neutral.

If your vehicle has a manual transmission, depress the clutch pedal all the way down.

Step 2: Identify the transfer case shift lever.

The transfer case shift lever in most Jeeps is located on the floor or dash of the vehicle.

It is typically marked with 2H or 4H, with the 2H setting indicating two-wheel drive and the 4H indicating four-wheel drive.

Step 3: Move the transfer case shift lever to 4H.

Firmly move the transfer case shift lever from 2H to 4H.

You may need to apply a little force to move the lever into the 4H position.

Step 4: Shift the transmission into gear.

Shift the transmission into the desired gear once the transfer case is in 4H.

Do not shift into 4H while the transmission is in gear, as this may cause damage to the transfer case.
