Step 1: Prepare the Car
1. Park the car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Raise the front of the car using a jack and place it securely on jack stands.
4. Loosen the lug nuts on the front wheels but don't remove them completely.
Step 2: Remove the Wheels
1. Use the lug wrench to remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.
Step 3: Remove the Caliper
1. Use a socket wrench to remove the two bolts holding the brake caliper in place.
2. Carefully lift the caliper off the rotor and set it aside.
Step 4: Remove the Old Brake Pads
1. The old brake pads are located on the inside of the caliper. Use a flat-head screwdriver to pry them out of their slots.
Step 5: Clean the Caliper
1. Use brake cleaner to clean the caliper and remove any dirt or debris. Make sure to get into the nooks and crannies.
Step 6: Install the New Brake Pads
1. Insert the new brake pads into the caliper. Make sure that they are seated properly.
Step 7: Reinstall the Caliper
1. Carefully replace the caliper over the rotor and secure it with the two bolts. Tighten the bolts until they are snug.
Step 8: Reinstall the Wheels
1. Put the wheels back on and tighten the lug nuts until they are snug.
2. Lower the car from the jack stands and remove the jack.
Step 9: Test the Brakes
1. Start the car and gently apply the brakes. You should feel a firm, even pedal.
Step 10: Check the Brake Fluid
1. Open the hood and check the brake fluid level in the reservoir. If it is low, add brake fluid until it reaches the "full" mark.
