- Socket wrench set
- 10 mm socket
- Extension bar
- Pliers
- New knock sensor
Instructions:
1. Disconnect the negative battery terminal to disable the ignition system.
2. Locate the knock sensor on the left side of the engine block, just below the cylinder head.
3. Use the 10 mm socket and extension bar to loosen the bolt that holds the knock sensor in place.
4. Remove the bolt and pull the knock sensor out of its hole.
5. Disconnect the wire connector from the knock sensor.
6. Install the new knock sensor in the reverse order of removal.
7. Tighten the bolt to 18 ft-lb.
8. Reconnect the wire connector to the knock sensor.
9. Reconnect the negative battery terminal.
It is important to replace the knock sensor as soon as possible if it is damaged or faulty, as it can lead to engine damage. If you are uncomfortable replacing the knock sensor yourself, you can have it replaced by a qualified mechanic.
