Where to install seat belts in the back on a 1965 Impala?

The 1965 Impala did not have seat belts installed in the back seat from the factory. However, you can have seat belts installed in the back of your Impala by a qualified mechanic. The mechanic will need to drill holes into the floor of your car to mount the seat belts. There are various aftermarket kits available that include all of the necessary hardware and instructions.

* 1965 Impala Two Door Hardtop: Seat belt brackets with bolts mount to rear wheel wells, just behind the rear side-panel quarter trim, and through the floor. Install the front end of lap belt to right side of driver’s seat, and to the left side of the right front seat. Install front ends of shoulder belts to lower inner seat anchor bracket bolts. Run shoulder belt behind rear seat side trim and snap snap-in button at top of pillar trim.*

* 1965 Impala Sport Coupe: Mounts and hardware for bucket seats are the same as two-door hardtop. Bench seat is similar, but front ends of lap belts mount to brackets on seat track extensions.

Once the seat belts are installed, you will need to make sure that they are properly adjusted. The seat belts should be snug against your body, but not too tight. You should be able to move your arms and legs freely while wearing the seat belts.

Installing seat belts in the back seat of your 1965 Impala is a great way to improve the safety of your vehicle. By following these instructions, you can ensure that your seat belts are properly installed and adjusted.
