1. Locate the diagnostic connector under the dashboard or in the engine bay. It's usually a black or gray connector with a 16-pin layout.
2. Connect a jumper wire between the "E1" and "TE1" terminals on the diagnostic connector. Usually, the terminals are labeled on the connector.
3. Turn the ignition switch to the "ON" position, but don't start the engine.
4. Leave the jumper wire connected for about 10 seconds, allowing the ECU to reset.
5. Turn off the ignition switch and remove the jumper wire.
6. Start the engine to verify that the check engine light has been reset.
