1. Gather your tools. You will need an OBD2 scanner, which can be purchased online or at most auto parts stores.
2. Locate the OBD2 port. On the Echo, it is located under the dash on the driver's side.
3. Connect the OBD2 scanner to the port.
4. Turn on the ignition but do not start the car.
5. On the OBD2 scanner, select the option to "Erase Codes" or "Reset ECU".
6. Follow the prompts on the scanner to reset the check engine light.
7. Once the check engine light has been reset, turn off the ignition and disconnect the OBD2 scanner.
8. Start the car and check that the check engine light is off.
