- Replacement wiper motor
- Screwdriver
- Pliers
- Socket wrench
- Ratchet wrench
Instructions:
1. Turn off the ignition: Before you begin any work, ensure the vehicle's ignition is turned off and the engine has completely cooled down.
2. Disconnect Battery: Disconnect the negative battery terminal to prevent any electrical accidents.
3. Remove Windshield Wiper Arms:
- Lift the wiper arms away from the windshield.
- Locate the nut holding each wiper arm to the wiper transmission linkage.
- Use the wrench to loosen and remove the nuts.
- Carefully lift off the wiper arms.
4. Access Wiper Motor:
-Locate the wiper motor cover in the engine compartment.
- Use a screwdriver to remove the screws holding the wiper motor cover in place.
- Lift off the cover to expose the wiper motor.
5. Disconnect Wiper Motor Wiring:
- Identify the electrical connector attached to the wiper motor.
- Use a small flat-head screwdriver or your finger to release the locking tab on the connector.
- Gently pull the connector to disconnect the motor's electrical wiring.
6. Remove Wiper Motor:
- Use a ratchet wrench with an appropriate socket to loosen and remove the bolts securing the wiper motor to the firewall.
- Carefully lift out the wiper motor from its mounting bracket.
7. Install the Replacement Motor:
- Place the new wiper motor into the mounting bracket and align it with the bolt holes.
- Use the socket wrench and ratchet to tighten the bolts, securing the motor in place.
8. Reconnect Wiper Motor Wiring:
- Reconnect the electrical connector to the new wiper motor.
- Ensure the locking tab is engaged to prevent accidental disconnection.
9. Replace Wiper Motor Cover:
- Reinstall the wiper motor cover and secure it using the screws you removed earlier.
10. Reinstall Windshield Wiper Arms:
- Align the wiper arms with the wiper transmission linkage.
- Use the nuts and bolts you removed earlier to secure the wiper arms in place.
11. Test Function:
- Turn the ignition back on.
- Turn the windshield wipers on to check if the new motor is working correctly.
12. Connect Negative Battery Cable:
- Reconnect the negative battery cable to restore the vehicle's electrical power.
Note: If the wiper motor still does not work after replacement, it may be due to an issue with the wiper transmission linkage, the wiper switch, or an electrical problem. In this case, it is recommended to consult with a qualified mechanic or auto electrician for further diagnosis and repair.
