Where are timing marks on 05 Kia Sorento 2.5 diesel?

CRANKSHAFT TIMING MARKS

1. Disconnect the battery negative cable.

2. Remove the serpentine belt, as outlined under Serpentine Belt Replacement in this section.

3. Remove the crankshaft pulley/harmonic balancer. On vehicles with air conditioning, remove the pulley bolt, loosen the mounting bolt for the A/C compressor and compressor bracket, then pry the compressor slightly forward while you loosen the crankshaft bolt.

4. Remove the upper and lower timing covers. Position the camshafts so that the timing mark on the intake camshaft sprocket aligns with the index mark on the rear cam cover

5. Using a screwdriver or scribe and a flashlight, locate the timing mark on the crankshaft (behind the crankshaft sprocket) and check the alignment of the timing mark on the oil pump. The crankshaft gear has five holes spaced 72 degrees apart. The crank sprocket has a wide gap between two of the holes. It is the hole adjacent to the gap which lines up with the punch mark on the oil pump cover at TDC (cylinder # 1 compression stroke).

CAMSHAFT TIMING MARKS

1. With the # 1 piston at TDC on its compression stroke, the timing marks on the camshafts should align with the index marks on the rear of the cam covers for exhaust and intake.

2. If these marks do not line up, remove the timing belt and turn the camshafts so that they do align.
