1. Park your vehicle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Apply the parking brake.
3. Shift the transmission to the neutral position.
4. Locate the shift knob release button on the side of the shift knob.
5. Press the shift knob release button and lift the shift knob straight up to remove it.
If your Mazda CX-5 has a button on top of the shift knob, remove it by pulling straight up.
6. Once the shift knob is removed, you can access the shift lever and perform the necessary maintenance or repairs.
To reinstall the shift knob, simply align it with the shift lever and push it down until it clicks into place.
Make sure the shift knob is securely in place before driving your vehicle.
