- Flathead screwdriver
- Phillips head screwdriver
- ½ inch socket with ratchet
- Extension bar
- 1-inch socket with ratchet
- New rear wiper motor
- Water-based lubricant
Instructions:
Step 1 _Remove the rear window trim_
- Open the rear hatch and locate the trim on the inside of the glass.
- Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the plastic clips that hold the trim in place.
- Work around the trim, prying off all of the clips.
- Set the trim aside safely to avoid damage.
Step 2 _Remove the old wiper motor_
- Locate the wiper motor on the outside of the rear window.
- Use the ½ inch socket with the ratchet to remove the two nuts that hold the motor in place.
- Set the nuts aside safely.
- Use the 1-inch socket with the ratchet to remove the two bolts that pass through the motor.
- Set the bolts aside safely.
- Gently pry off the motor using a flathead screwdriver.
- Set the old wiper motor aside.
Step 3 _Install the new wiper motor_
- Hold the new wiper motor in place and insert the two bolts through the mounting holes.
- Attach the two nuts that hold the motor in place.
- Tighten the nuts until snug.
- Attach the washer hose using the extension bar.
- Tighten the hose until snug.
- Test the wiper motor using the switch on the dashboard to ensure it is working correctly.
Step 4 _Reinstall the rear window trim_
- Position the trim on the inside of the glass.
- Replace the plastic clips that you pried off earlier.
- Snap the clips in place by pressing them into place with your hands.
Step 5 _Test the wiper motor_
- Test the wiper motor again using the switch on the dashboard to ensure it is working correctly.
