How do you put rear brakes back together on a 1993 Ford Tempo?

Tools Needed:

- Jack and jack stands

- Lug wrench

- Flathead screwdriver

- Torx bit set

- Brake caliper grease

- Brake cleaner

Instructions:

1. Park your car on a level surface and apply the parking brake.

2. Chock the front wheels.

3. Jack up the rear of your car and support the rear end on jack stands.

4. Remove the lug nuts and take off the rear wheels.

5. Remove the two 13 mm bolts that hold the brake caliper in place.

6. Remove the brake caliper and hang it out of the way with some wire.

7. Inspect the brake pads and rotors. If the brake pads are worn, replace them. If the rotors are damaged, have them resurfaced or replaced.

8. Clean the caliper and rotor with brake cleaner.

9. Apply a small amount of brake caliper grease to the slide pins.

10. Reinstall the brake caliper.

11. Reinstall the two 13 mm bolts that hold the brake caliper in place.

12. Reinstall the rear wheels.

13. Lower the car off the jack stands.

14. Test the brakes.

Tips:

* Be careful when jacking up your car. Make sure to place the jack under a solid part of the frame and not on any of the brake lines or fuel lines.

* If the brake fluid level is low, add brake fluid to the master cylinder.

* Brake caliper grease is not a lubricant. It is used to prevent the brake pads and caliper from sticking together.
