Instructions:
1. Prepare the Vehicle.
- Park your vehicle on a level surface. Engage the parking brake. Turn the engine off and allow it to cool down completely.
- Raise your vehicle with the jack and secure it on jack stands.
2. Locate the Oil Pump.
- The oil pump is located on the front of the engine, below the timing chain cover.
3. Drain the Oil.
- Place an oil catch container beneath the oil pan drain plug.
- Use a wrench to loosen the drain plug and allow the oil to drain completely.
4. Remove the Oil Pan.
- Locate the oil pan bolts. There are usually 15–20 bolts.
- Use the ratchet and socket set to remove the bolts.
- Gently pry the oil pan off the engine block with the screwdriver. Be careful not to spill any remaining oil.
5. Remove the Oil Pump.
- Locate the three bolts that hold the oil pump.
- Use the ratchet and socket set to loosen the bolts.
- Remove the bolts and the oil pump should come off easily.
6. Replace the Oil Pump Seal and Gasket.
- Inspect the oil pump seal and gasket for any signs of damage. Replace them if necessary.
7. Install the New Oil Pump.
- Apply a thin coat of sealant to the oil pump gasket.
- Set the new oil pump in place and install the bolts.
8. Replace the Oil Pan.
- Clean the oil pan and mating surface on the engine block.
- Apply a thin coat of sealant to the oil pan mating surface.
- Set the oil pan in place and install the bolts.
9. Reinstall the Oil Pan Bolts.
- Reinstall all the oil pan bolts. Tighten them in a star pattern to evenly distribute the pressure.
10. Reinstall the Oil Filter.
- Use the oil filter funnel to add a new oil filter.
- Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug.
11. Add New Oil.
- Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine.
- Check the oil level with the dipstick and add more oil if necessary.
12. Start the Vehicle.
- Start the vehicle and let it run for a few minutes.
- Check for any leaks.
13. Lower the Vehicle.
- Lower the vehicle from the jack stands.
Tips:
- Make sure you purchase the correct oil pump for your vehicle.
- Always use a new oil filter when changing the oil.
- Dispose of the used oil and filter properly.
