1. Gather Tools and Materials:
- New spark plugs (x6) according to your vehicle's specifications
- Spark plug wrench or socket wrench with a long extension
- Ratchet
- Gap gauge
- Flashlight
2. Preparation:
- Allow your engine to cool down completely before starting the repair.
- Park your car on a level surface and engage the parking brake.
3. Remove Engine Cover:
- Open your car's hood and locate the engine cover.
- Remove any plastic covers or engine components that obstruct access to the spark plugs.
4. Disconnect Ignition Coils:
- Locate the six ignition coils on top of the engine.
- Press down on the release tabs on each coil and pull straight up to disconnect them.
5. Remove Old Spark Plugs:
- Use the spark plug wrench or socket wrench to loosen and remove the old spark plugs, one by one.
6. Check and Adjust Gap (if needed):
- Consult your vehicle's owner's manual for the recommended spark plug gap.
- Use a gap gauge to measure and adjust the gap of the new spark plugs if needed.
7. Install New Spark Plugs:
- Carefully insert the new spark plugs into the cylinder heads by hand until they are snug.
- Use the spark plug wrench or socket wrench to tighten the spark plugs.
- Do not overtighten.
8. Reconnect Ignition Coils:
- Push down on the ignition coils and press them back into place until they click and lock.
9. Replace Engine Cover:
- Reinstall any removed engine components or plastic covers.
10. Test Drive:
- Start your vehicle and let it run for a few minutes to ensure proper functioning.
- Test drive your vehicle to ensure that it is running smoothly.
