*Ensure the engine is off and the key is out of the ignition.*
1. Locate the diagnostic port. This is usually located under the dashboard, near the driver's side footwell. It is a small, rectangular port with a plastic cover.
2. Remove the cover from the diagnostic port.
3. Insert a jumper wire into the port. The jumper wire should be connected to pins 1 and 3 of the diagnostic port.
4. Turn the key to the "On" position. Do not start the engine.
5. Wait for the check engine light to come on. This may take a few seconds.
6. Once the check engine light comes on, turn the key to the "Off" position.
7. Remove the jumper wire from the diagnostic port.
8. Replace the cover on the diagnostic port.
9. Start the engine. The check engine light should now be reset.
If the check engine light does not reset, there may be a problem with your vehicle's emissions system. You should have your vehicle diagnosed by a qualified mechanic.
