- Flathead screwdriver
- Phillips head screwdriver
- New side view mirror hold-down spring
Instructions:
1. Park the vehicle on a flat surface and engage the parking brake.
2. Locate the side view mirror that needs the new hold-down spring.
3. Use a flathead screwdriver to pry off the plastic cover from the side view mirror housing.
4. Locate the two screws that hold the mirror housing in place.
5. Use a Phillips head screwdriver to remove the two screws.
6. Carefully remove the side view mirror from the vehicle, taking care not to drop it.
7. Locate the old hold-down spring on the side view mirror.
8. Using a flathead screwdriver, pry off the old hold-down spring from the back of the mirror.
9. Replace the old hold-down spring with the new one.
10. Reattach the side view mirror to the vehicle.
11. Replace the two screws that hold the side view mirror in place.
12. Replace the plastic cover over the side view mirror housing.
13. Test the new side view mirror to ensure that it is held securely in place.
Tips:
- Be careful when prying off the plastic cover from the side view mirror housing. The plastic is fragile and can easily be damaged.
- When removing the old hold-down spring, be careful not to drop it inside the vehicle.
- When replacing the new hold-down spring, make sure that it is seated properly in place.
