What types of wrench ends are there?

Box End Wrench:

A box end wrench has a closed circular head that completely surrounds the nut or bolt. It provides a strong grip and is commonly used for high-torque applications.

Open-End Wrench:

An open-end wrench has a U-shaped head with two parallel jaws. It is suitable for quick and simple tightening or loosening of fasteners but offers less grip compared to box-end wrenches.

Combination Wrench:

A combination wrench combines the features of both box-end and open-end wrenches. It has a closed box head on one end and an open U-shaped head on the other. This allows for versatility in different situations.

Adjustable Wrench:

Also known as an adjustable spanner, this wrench has a movable jaw that can be adjusted to fit various nut and bolt sizes. It is versatile but generally provides less precise gripping compared to fixed-size wrenches.

Allen Wrench (Hex Key):

An Allen wrench, sometimes called a hex key, is a specialized wrench with a hexagonal-shaped head. It is used to tighten or loosen screws or bolts that have a hexagonal socket head.

Torx Wrench:

A Torx wrench is similar to an Allen wrench but features a star-shaped head instead. It is commonly used for fasteners with Torx head screw drive systems.

Crowfoot Wrench:

A crowfoot wrench is designed for hard-to-reach or confined spaces. It has a box-end head that is angled or offset, allowing access to fasteners in awkward positions.

Socket Wrench:

A socket wrench consists of a handle and a set of interchangeable sockets. It offers versatility as different sockets can be attached to the handle. Additional accessories like extensions, ratchets, and adapters can be used along with socket wrenches.

Ratcheting Wrench:

A ratcheting wrench incorporates a ratcheting mechanism that allows for continuous turning of the fastener without removing the wrench. It improves efficiency in situations where space is limited or fast tightening is required.

These are some of the common types of wrench ends, but specialty wrenches with unique designs exist for specific applications and industries.
