Tools and Materials Needed:
- Flat-head screwdriver
- Phillips-head screwdriver
- Trim removal tool (or a thin plastic pry tool)
- Replacement interior door handle
Procedure:
1. Remove the Door Trim Panel:
- Using the flat-head screwdriver, carefully pry off the plastic cover located at the base of the armrest.
- Once the cover is removed, you'll see two Phillips-head screws.
- Remove these screws.
- Using the trim removal tool or a thin plastic pry tool, carefully pry off the door trim panel, starting from the bottom and working your way up.
- Be careful not to break any clips or tabs holding the trim panel in place.
2. Disconnect the Power Window and Lock Switch Connector:
- Once the door trim panel is removed, locate the power window and door lock switch connector attached to the door handle.
- Disconnect this connector by gently squeezing the release tab and pulling it apart.
3. Remove the Door Handle Mounting Screws:
- Locate the two screws securing the door handle to the door frame.
- Use the Phillips-head screwdriver to remove these screws.
4. Remove the Old Door Handle:
- Once the mounting screws are removed, carefully remove the old door handle by pulling it towards you.
5. Install the Replacement Door Handle:
- Align the replacement door handle with the mounting holes in the door frame.
- Secure it in place using the mounting screws you removed earlier.
6. Reconnect the Power Window and Lock Switch Connector:
- Reconnect the power window and door lock switch connector that you disconnected earlier.
7. Reattach the Door Trim Panel:
- Reattach the door trim panel by pressing it firmly back into place, making sure all the clips and tabs engage securely.
- Replace the two screws you removed at the base of the panel.
- Reattach the plastic cover.
8. Test the Door Handle:
- Check that the new door handle is working properly by pulling and pushing it to ensure smooth operation.
