How do you change oil on a push mower?

Changing oil on a push mower involves the following steps:

Gather your materials. You will need:

New oil of the correct type and amount (refer to your mower manual)

A funnel

A wrench

A drain pan

Newspaper or rags to catch any spills

Prepare your mower for the oil change.

Turn off the mower and disconnect the spark plug wire.

Place the mower on a level surface.

Engage the parking brake.

Drain the old oil.

Place the drain pan under the mower.

Locate the oil drain plug (usually near the bottom of the mower deck).

Unscrew the oil drain plug and allow the old oil to drain into the pan.

Be sure to drain all of the old oil.

Replace the oil drain plug.

Once the oil has drained completely, replace the oil drain plug.

Tighten the oil drain plug securely.

Add new oil.

Place the funnel in the oil fill port (usually near the top of the mower engine).

Pour the new oil into the funnel until the oil level reaches the "full" mark on the dipstick.

Check the oil level.

Use the dipstick to check the oil level.

Make sure the oil level is between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.

Dispose of the old oil and rags properly.

Dispose of the old oil and rags according to your local regulations.

Start the mower and let it run for a few minutes.

This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.

Shut off the mower and recheck the oil level.

Make sure the oil level is still between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
