Is there something I can use to do a small windshield crack repair or it is better left for professionals?

For small windshield cracks, you can try do-it-yourself (DIY) repair kits.

1. Gather the necessary materials.

- Windshield repair kit (available online or at auto parts stores)

- Safety glasses

- Gloves

- Rubbing alcohol

- Razor blade

- Microfiber cloth

2. Clean the windshield.

- Thoroughly clean the area around the crack with rubbing alcohol and a microfiber cloth.

- Make sure the surface is free from dirt, debris, and oil.

3. Apply the resin.

- Open the windshield repair kit and apply a drop of resin to the center of the crack.

- Spread the resin evenly using the spreader tool.

4. Cover the crack.

- Place the curing strip over the crack, ensuring it completely covers the resin.

- Press down firmly to create a good seal.

5. Cure the resin.

- Use the UV light provided in the kit to cure the resin.

- Hold the light about an inch away from the crack and move it back and forth for several minutes.

6. Remove the curing strip.

- Once the resin is cured, carefully remove the curing strip.

7. Clean the windshield.

- Use a clean microfiber cloth to clean any excess resin from the windshield.

Note:

- DIY windshield crack repair kits are suitable for small, simple cracks.

- For larger or more complex cracks, it's best to consult with a professional auto glass repair service.
