What does service tire monitor mean?

The "service tire monitor" warning light means that there is something wrong with your tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS). The TPMS is responsible for monitoring the air pressure in your tires and warning you if it gets too low.

There are a few different things that can cause the "service tire monitor" warning light to come on:

* One or more of your tires may be low on air. This is the most common cause of this warning light. Check the air pressure in all of your tires and inflate them to the recommended pressure, which is usually listed on the sidewall of the tire.

* One or more of your tire pressure sensors may be damaged. TPMS sensors can be damaged by road hazards, potholes, or curb bumps. If one or more of your sensors is damaged, you will need to have the sensor replaced.

* The TPMS control module may be malfunctioning. The TPMS control module is responsible for collecting data from the tire pressure sensors and sending it to the instrument cluster. If the control module is malfunctioning, it will not be able to turn on the "service tire monitor" warning light.

If you see the "service tire monitor" warning light come on, it is important to get your car checked out as soon as possible. Driving on underinflated tires can be dangerous, as it can increase your risk of a blowout.
