How do I change brake pads on a 1995 Buick Park Avenue?

Tools and Supplies needed:

- Floor jack

- Jack stands

- Wheel lug wrench

- C-clamp

- Flathead screwdriver

- Brake pad spreader

- New brake pads

- Brake grease

Instructions:

1.Park your car in a safe location, turn off the engine, and engage the parking brake.

2. Jack up the front of your car and support it on jack stands.

3. Remove the lug nuts and take off the front wheels.

4. Locate the brake caliper. It is the large metal housing located over the brake rotor, behind the wheel.

5. Remove the two bolts or pins connecting the caliper to the caliper carrier.

- Once the bolts or pins are removed, swing the caliper up and out of the way.

- This will expose the brake pads.

6. Use a C-clamp to compress the brake piston back into the caliper.

- Be careful not to damage the brake piston boot while compressing it.

7. Slide out the old brake pads from the caliper carrier.

8. Clean the caliper carrier. You may use a wire brush to remove any dirt or debris.

9. Apply a small amount of brake grease to the new brake pads.

- This will help them to slide easily in the caliper carrier and prevent brake squeal.

10. Slide the new brake pads into the caliper carrier.

- Make sure that the pads are seated properly and are not rubbing against the brake rotor.

11. Reinstall the caliper and tighten the bolts.

12. Replace the wheels and lug nuts.

13. Lower the car and remove the jack stands.

14. Test the brakes by gently applying the brake pedal while driving slowly.

Your brake pads are now changed. If you have any questions or concerns, be sure to consult with a qualified automotive mechanic.
