How do you change a boot lock on peugeot 106?

Tools and Supplies Needed:

1. New boot lock (same type as the original)

2. Car key

3. Screwdriver

4. Socket set

5. Pliers

6. Wire cutter

7. New security screws (optional, for extra security)

Instructions:

Step 1: Gain access to the trunk

* Open your car's boot (trunk).

* Locate the access panel inside the boot (usually on the back part near the boot latch).

* Use the screwdriver to pry or unclip the access panel. This reveals the boot lock assembly.

Step 2: Disconnect electrical wires

* Locate the electrical connector attached to the boot lock.

* Press down on the small clip, usually located on the side or top of the connector.

* Pull the connector to disconnect the electrical wiring from the boot lock.

* Set the connector aside.

Step 3: Remove the old boot lock

* Locate the bolts or screws that hold the boot lock in place.

* Use the socket set to loosen and remove the bolts or screws.

* Carefully remove the old boot lock assembly from the boot lid.

Step 4: Remove the lock cylinder mechanism (if necessary)

1. If the boot lock you purchased does not come with the lock cylinder, you may need to remove the lock cylinder from the old lock assembly and reinstall it in the new lock.

2. Using the screwdriver, pry open the lock cylinder cover. Be careful not to damage the lock cylinder.

3. Insert your car key into the cylinder. Turn the key and pull the lock out of the lock assembly.

4. Place the lock cylinder in the new lock assembly. Make sure the key turns smoothly.

Step 5: Install the new boot lock

* Insert the new lock assembly into the boot lid and align the bolt or screw holes.

* Use the socket set to reinstall the bolts or screws to securely fasten the new boot lock.

Step 6: Reconnect electrical wires

* Reconnect the electrical connector that you detached earlier. Make sure it's securely plugged back in.

Step 7: Test the boot lock

* Close and open the boot and check that the boot lock is working properly.

* Insert the key into the new boot lock and try turning the key to lock and unlock.

* Lock the car using the key and check if the boot is locked securely.

Step 8: Secure with security screws (optional)

* Some new boot locks come with security screws for added protection against theft.

* If provided, replace the regular bolts or screws with security screws for extra security.

* Tighten the security screws using the appropriate tool.

Step 9: Reattach access panel

* Reinstall the access panel that you removed in step 1.

* Make sure it is properly aligned and secured.
