- New oil filter (check owner's manual for the correct filter)
- New oil (check owner's manual for the correct type and amount)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
- Safety glasses
Instructions:
1. Park the car on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Open the hood of the car.
4. Locate the oil drain plug on the bottom of the oil pan.
5. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug.
6. Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into the pan.
7. Once the oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug.
8. Locate the oil filter. It is usually located near the top of the engine.
9. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
10. Remove the old oil filter and inspect the gasket. If the gasket is damaged, replace it.
11. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
12. Screw on the new oil filter until it is snug. Do not overtighten.
13. Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. Be careful not to overfill the engine.
14. Check the oil level using the dipstick. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
15. Close the hood of the car.
16. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
17. Check for any leaks under the car. If there are no leaks, you are finished.
