To cancel your auto lease under the SCRA, you must provide written notice to the lessor within 30 days of receiving your orders. The notice must include your name, rank, and branch of service, as well as the date of your orders and the expected length of your deployment. You must also return the leased vehicle to the lessor within 15 days of providing notice.
The lessor may charge you a reasonable disposition fee, which cannot exceed the amount of your remaining lease payments. The lessor may also charge you for any damage to the vehicle that is not covered by your insurance.
If you cancel your auto lease under the SCRA, you will be released from all further obligations under the lease, including any remaining payments, fees, or penalties.
