1. Make sure the parking brake is securely engaged.
2. Locate the reverse safety switch. It will be located near the transmission or the rear axle, depending on the model of your Cub Cadet.
3. Disconnect the electrical connector from the switch.
4. Using a screwdriver or other pry bar, carefully disconnect the switch from its mount. Be careful not to lose any of the small parts.
5. Clean the switch and its mounting surface with a wire brush.
6. Reattach the switch to its mount and reconnect the electrical connector.
7. Test the switch by engaging and disengaging the reverse gear. The safety switch should prevent the tractor from moving in reverse unless the switch is engaged.
