Why is your lawn mower over revving?

Possible Causes:

1. Clogged Air Filter: A dirty air filter can restrict airflow and cause the engine to run faster than normal. Check the air filter and replace it if needed.

2. Carburetor Problems: If the carburetor is dirty or clogged, it can cause the engine to run too quickly. Remove the carburetor and clean it according to the manufacturer's instructions.

3. Faulty Governor: The governor is responsible for controlling the speed of the engine. If the governor is not working properly, it can cause the engine to over rev. Test the governor by following the manufacturer's instructions. If the governor is faulty, replace it.

4. Fuel Issues: If the fuel is not flowing properly to the engine, it can cause the engine to run faster than normal. Check the fuel line for kinks or leaks. Also, make sure that the fuel tank is full.

5. Bad Spark Plug: A bad spark plug can cause the engine to run erratically, including over revving. Remove the spark plug and check it for damage or wear. Replace the spark plug if necessary.

6. Engine Issues: There may be a mechanical issue with the engine itself, such as a damaged or worn piston or cylinder. If you've followed all the previous steps and you're still unable to identify the cause of the engine's overrevving, it is recommended to consult with a mechanic for further assistance.
