How do you adjust carburetor on 2006 sportster?

To adjust the carburetor on a 2006 Sportster, you will need the following tools:

*A screwdriver

* A wrench

*A feeler gauge

* A vacuum gauge

1. Locate the carburetor. The carburetor is located on the right side of the engine, behind the air filter.

2. Remove the air filter. To remove the air filter, loosen the two screws that hold it in place.

3. Inspect the carburetor. Check the carburetor for any damage or leaks. If you see any damage, you will need to replace the carburetor.

4. Turn off the fuel petcock. The fuel petcock is located on the left side of the fuel tank. Turn the fuel petcock to the "off" position.

5. Remove the idle speed screw cap. The idle speed screw cap is located on the bottom of the carburetor. Remove the idle speed screw cap with the screwdriver.

6. Turn the idle speed screw. Turn the idle speed screw clockwise until the engine starts to run rough. Then, turn the idle speed screw counterclockwise until the engine runs smoothly.

7. Set the throttle cable free play. The throttle cable free play is the amount of slack in the throttle cable. To adjust the throttle cable free play, loosen the locknut on the throttle cable adjuster. Then, turn the throttle cable adjuster until the throttle cable has 1/8-1/4 inch of free play. Tighten the locknut.

8. Install the air filter. Install the air filter and tighten the two screws that hold it in place.

9.Turn the fuel petcock on. Turn the fuel petcock to the "on" position.

Test the motorcycle to ensure the carburetor is adjusted correctly. The motorcycle should start easily and idle smoothly. The engine should also respond smoothly to throttle input.
