1. Gather your materials. You will need:
- New oil (refer to your owner's manual for the correct type and amount of oil)
- Oil filter (if equipped)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
2. Prepare your bike. Park your bike on a level surface and turn off the engine. Allow the engine to cool down completely.
3. Locate the oil drain plug. The oil drain plug is typically located on the bottom of the engine.
4. Place the oil drain pan under the oil drain plug.
5. Remove the oil drain plug. Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into the oil drain pan.
6. Replace the oil drain plug. Once the oil has drained completely, replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.
7. Locate the oil filter (if equipped). The oil filter is typically located near the top of the engine.
8. Remove the oil filter. Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter and remove it from the engine.
9. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
10. Install the new oil filter. Screw the new oil filter onto the engine and tighten it securely.
11. Add new oil to the engine. Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. Add the amount of oil specified in your owner's manual.
12. Check the oil level. Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
13. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes. This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
14. Check for leaks. Inspect the engine for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
That's it! You have now successfully changed the oil in your 2 stroke dirt bike.
