1. Park the motorcycle on a level surface and turn off the engine.
2. Locate the primary chain tensioner on the left side of the engine, below the primary cover.
3. Loosen the locknut on the tensioner using a wrench.
4. Turn the tensioner screw clockwise to increase the chain tension, or counterclockwise to decrease the chain tension.
5. While turning the tensioner screw, hold the chain with your other hand to prevent it from slipping.
6. Tighten the locknut once you have achieved the desired chain tension.
7. Reinstall the primary cover.

* The primary chain should have about 1/2-inch of free play between the chain and the bottom of the chain guard.
* If the chain is too tight, it can put unnecessary strain on the engine and transmission components.
* If the chain is too loose, it can skip teeth on the sprockets, which can cause damage to the engine and transmission.
* It is important to check the primary chain tension regularly and adjust it as needed.
