- A 5/16-inch Allen wrench
- A flathead screwdriver
- A feeler gauge
Step 1: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to warm up the oil.
Step 2: Shut off the engine and remove the spark plugs.
Step 3: Remove the rocker box covers.
Step 4: Locate the pushrods. They are the metal rods that connect the rocker arms to the camshaft.
Step 5: Insert the feeler gauge between the rocker arm and the valve stem. The clearance should be between .004 and .006 inches.
Step 6: If the clearance is too small, use the 5/16-inch Allen wrench to turn the pushrod adjuster clockwise until the clearance is correct.
Step 7: If the clearance is too large, use the flathead screwdriver to pry the pushrod adjuster away from the pushrod until the clearance is correct.
Step 8: Repeat steps 5 through 7 for all of the pushrods.
Step 9: Reinstall the rocker box covers and spark plugs.
Step 10: Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes to check for leaks.
