1. Park the Fourtrax on a level surface.
2. Turn off the engine and allow it to cool down.
3. Locate the chain adjuster bolts on the rear of the Fourtrax. There are two bolts, one on each side of the swingarm.
4. Loosen the chain adjuster locknuts using a wrench.
5. Turn the chain adjuster bolts clockwise to tighten the chain.
6. Tighten the chain until there is approximately 1/2 inch (12.7 mm) of play between the chain and the swingarm.
7. Retighten the chain adjuster locknuts.
8. Check the chain tension again and make sure that it is correct.
Tip: If the chain is too loose, it can slip off the sprockets and cause damage to the engine. If the chain is too tight, it can put unnecessary strain on the engine and transmission.
