1. Gather your tools and materials.
* New oil filter (Honda part number 15410-MT0-003)
* New crush washer for the drain plug (Honda part number 94109-12000)
* Oil drain pan
* Funnel
* Wrench
* Rags
* Safety glasses
2. Warm up the engine.
This will help the oil to drain more easily. Let it idle for a few minutes.
3. Turn off the engine and let it cool down slightly.
You don't want the oil to be too hot when you drain it.
4. Locate the oil drain plug.
It is located on the bottom of the engine, near the front.
5. Place the oil drain pan under the drain plug.
Make sure the pan is large enough to catch all of the oil.
6. Loosen the oil drain plug.
Use the wrench to loosen the drain plug. Be careful not to drop the bolt into the oil pan.
7. Allow the oil to drain.
Let the oil drain completely into the pan. This may take a few minutes.
8. Replace the crush washer on the drain plug.
This will help to prevent leaks.
9. Reinstall the drain plug.
Tighten the drain plug until it is snug.
10. Locate the oil filter.
It is located on the right side of the engine, near the top.
11. Remove the oil filter.
Use the wrench to loosen the oil filter. Be careful not to spill any oil.
12. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
This will help to create a seal and prevent leaks.
13. Screw on the new oil filter.
Hand-tighten the oil filter until it is snug. Do not overtighten the oil filter.
14. Add new oil to the engine.
Use the funnel to add new oil to the engine. The Rebel CRX takes 1.2 liters (1.3 quarts) of oil.
15. Check the oil level.
Use the dipstick to check the oil level. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
16. Start the engine and let it run for a few minutes.
This will circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
17. Check for leaks.
Look under the motorcycle for any leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
That's it! You have now successfully changed the oil in your 2005 Honda Rebel CRX motorcycle.
