- New oil filter (Harley-Davidson part number 63808-89A)
- New oil (Harley-Davidson recommends SAE 20W-50 motor oil)
- Oil drain pan
- Funnel
- Wrench
- Rags
1. Start by warming up the bike for a few minutes. This will help to thin the oil and make it easier to drain.
2. Turn off the bike and let it cool for a few minutes.
3. Place the oil drain pan under the bike, directly below the oil drain plug.
4. Use the wrench to loosen the oil drain plug and allow the oil to drain into the pan.
5. Once the oil has drained, replace the oil drain plug and tighten it securely.
6. Remove the old oil filter by turning it counterclockwise until it comes loose. Be careful not to spill any oil.
7. Apply a thin coat of new oil to the gasket of the new oil filter.
8. Screw the new oil filter onto the bike by hand until it is snug. Do not overtighten the oil filter.
9. Add new oil to the bike through the oil fill hole. Use the funnel to help you add the oil without spilling any.
10. Add the amount of oil specified in the bike's owner's manual.
11. Check the oil level with the dipstick. The oil level should be between the "full" and "add" marks on the dipstick.
12. Turn on the bike and let it run for a few minutes. This will help to circulate the new oil throughout the engine.
13. Check for leaks. If you see any leaks, tighten the oil drain plug or oil filter until the leak stops.
