How do you replace a oil filter on 1981 HONDA GL1100 motorcycle?

Tools Needed:

- Oil Filter Wrench

- 17mm/0.67in Socket

- Oil Filter (15410-413-015, 15410-413-003, 15410-413-004, 15410-413-014, 15410-443-003)

- Oil Drain Pan

- New Oil & Oil Filter Gasket

Instructions:

1.) Make sure the engine is cool and not hot to prevent burns.

2.) Locate the oil drain bolt underneath the engine.

3.) Place the oil drain pan under the bolt and loosen it with the 17mm socket wrench.

4.) Allow the old oil to drain into the pan completely.

5.) Replace the drain bolt with the new oil filter gasket and tighten it back in place.

6.) Locate the oil filter near the front of the engine, underneath the valve cover.

7.) Remove the old oil filter using an oil filter wrench.

8.) Clean the oil filter mounting area on the engine case.

9.) Apply a thin layer of oil on the new filter's gasket.

10.) Replace the new oil filter by hand until snug.

11.) Tighten the oil filter by turning it clockwise using an oil filter wrench.

12.) Remove the oil filler cap and add the specified amount of new oil.

13.)Replace the oil filler cap and start the motorcycle.

14.) Allow the engine to run for a few minutes to distribute the oil evenly.

15.) Verify the oil level in the oil filler window after the engine has cooled down and correct if necessary.
